Project Showcase – May 2015
As part of our “Insider’s Update”, we will regularly showcase one of our important and interesting projects. This month, we feature our design and installation of some unique “wall mounted” Prestige Flagpoles™ for the new Palazzo Versace Hotel which is due to open soon in the Culture Village precinct, overlooking Dubai Creek near the Al Jadaf area of Dubai.
While the majority of our Prestige Flagpoles™ are mounted at ground level, due to the unique architectural layout of the grounds at the Palazzo Versace, this standard type of installation did not provide the look and feel that the landscape consultant was hoping to achieve. In order to highlight the hotel’s front entrance, we worked with our main contractor (Arabtec Enshaa Services JV) and the End Client’s consultant (National Engineering Bureau) to come up with a solution that would enhance the overall appearance of the hotel in a “grand” style.
The end result has four Prestige Flagpoles™ attached directly to the façade of the hotel’s main portico, using unique structural mounting brackets mounted at a height of about 13 meters above ground level. The flagpoles themselves are 4.5 meters in height, modified from our standard 6m design, making the flag height about 18 meters above the main entrance-way. All of this required some custom engineering to design the mounting method, as well as some custom fabrication and our team of installation experts to safely and securely install the mounting sleeves and poles. The poles and sleeves are powder coated to a “Brown Sparkle Metallic” color, which also gives them a unique and luxurious appearance.
The project required many levels of coordination to ensure successful completion, including our structural engineering team working with Halford / Hyder Consulting, and the National Engineering Bureau, not to mention our Projects Team’s direct coordination with our main contractor, Arabtec and their coordination with the Developer and End Client, Enshaa Services Group and Emirates Sunland. The installation went smoothly, and the results are stunning. We are proud to have been involved in this prestigious project for Palazzo Versace Hotel (http://www.palazzoversace.ae/en/), and look forward to the hotel’s grand opening.
